Dorothy Clark Morang (1906-1994) was born in Richmond, Maine. She met Alfred Morang in 1925, and they were married in 1930. They lived in Portland, Maine for a number of years, and moved to Santa Fe in 1937 to alleviate the symptoms of Alfred’s tuberculosis. In New Mexico, Dorothy shifted from figurative to abstract artwork, drawing inspiration from the Transcendental Painting Group. This glowing view of New Mexico recalls earlier figurative artwork she created in Maine.
