Artwork for COLLECTOR’S CHOICE exhibition to be selected by Facebook, Twitter fans

Santa Fe, NM— Over the past year, Matthews Gallery has used social media to connect with art lovers around the world. This month, the Canyon Road gallery will allow online fans to become art curators. The show titled COLLECTOR’S CHOICE: 10 Artworks We Love begins Friday, January 17, when the gallery will ask its social media fans to vote on art for the exhibition. The 10 most popular works will be unveiled in the gallery and online over the course of the exhibition which ends February 5.

“Curating a show is a joyful, invigorating experience,” says gallery owner Lawrence Matthews. “With Valentine’s Day coming up, we thought this would be a great way to share the love of art with our followers.”

Paintings, sculptures and other work by artists including Jamie Chase, Kate Rivers, Robert W. Hinds, Eric G. Thompson, Pablo Picasso, Charles Partridge Adams and Hannah Holliday Stewart will be among the colorful possibilities.

“This experiment is all about helping collectors and art fans further develop their aesthetic eye,” says Matthews. “Why do you like a particular painting or sculpture, and should it get a spot in the show?”
