Forrest Moses (1934-2021) was born in Virginia where he studied fine art at Washington and Lee University prior to joining the Navy.
After returning from a tour abroad he enrolled at the Pratt Institute in New York. Moses's abstract landscapes are deeply influenced by the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi; the idea of appreciating the incomplete, imperfect and impermanent beauty that can be observed in nature. His work is included in numerous public and private collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art.
