Vasa (b.1933) emigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia in 1960 where he quickly received citizenship. In 1967, he began working with plastic. Particularly interested in placing color in open space, he started using clear plastic as a structural support for different planes of transparent color. Expecting to explore this work for a few years, Vasa continues to discover new possibilities with the medium from his Los Angeles, California studio.
